Returning used batteries
Collect used batteries separately. Statutory take-back is free and does not require a new purchase.
Free return
Used batteries in categories we sell or have sold as new can be returned free of charge under the applicable law. No new purchase or receipt is required. G&C, Josef-Bautz-Straße 26, 63457 Hanau, is your first contact.
Please contact us in advance to arrange safe handover of heavy, installed or damaged batteries. This arrangement concerns safety and does not restrict statutory return rights.
Return for distance sales
Batteries sold at a distance require a suitable return option within reasonable reach of the end user. We arrange the appropriate route for the category and location with you. Austrian take-back and producer-responsibility rules also apply to Austria.
Do not send damaged lithium batteries as ordinary parcels. Do not dismantle installed batteries yourself unless the instructions permit it.
Markings and safe collection
The crossed-out bin means: do not put in household waste. Pb and Cd identify certain substances present. Store batteries dry and protected against short circuits. Do not open, crush or puncture them. Keep your distance from smoke or severe heat and call 112 in an emergency.
Current legal framework
The framework comprises EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542 and Germany’s BattDG, particularly retailer take-back obligations. Austrian implementation and registration rules must also be observed. Updated 2 October 2026.
