Volta Motor · Germany & Austria

Driving licences & registration

The vehicle category and approved version are decisive, rather than speed, motor power or model name alone.

Germany: guidance by vehicle type

General guidance; not approval of any Volta model
Vehicle typeWhat matters?
Pedal-assisted bicyclePedal assistance, rated continuous power no greater than 250 W and assistance cut-off by 25 km/h must all be met. Pedals alone do not make a scooter a bicycle.
Moped / up to 25 km/hExemptions concern specified two- and three-wheel categories. Check test certificates and exemptions separately; they do not generally extend to four wheels.
Moped / light quadricycleAM may apply to the confirmed category. B includes AM. Speed alone does not determine the category.
125 cc motorcycleA1, an encompassing category or an appropriate German B196 entitlement under its legal conditions. B196 does not automatically apply abroad.
Faster motorcycle / ATV / cabin vehicleA1, A2, A or B depend on category, power, mass and other characteristics.

Check Austria separately

German exemptions must not be transferred to Austria. For the actual version, check vehicle category, licence, registration, liability insurance and any helmet or seat-belt requirements. Delivery to Austria is not a promise that every manufacturer version is approved for road use.

Documents must match the version

Model, type, variant, version and design speed must match the vehicle documents. Selecting a slower driving mode does not change the legal category. Turkish manufacturer data does not confirm German or Austrian approval.
